Expanding its footprint across the Garden State, fiber internet provider GoNetspeed has announced an $8 million private investment to bring its 100% fiber-optic network to the Borough of Carteret.
The fully funded project will extend high-speed connectivity to more than 6,300 homes and businesses in the borough, delivering symmetrical upload and download speeds ranging from 500 Mbps up to 6 Gbps. Construction is slated to begin as early as spring 2027, with the first local customers expected to come online by next summer.

Carteret joins a rapidly growing list of New Jersey municipalities targeted by the provider, following recent expansions in Parlin, East Brunswick, and Old Bridge, as well as ongoing work in South River. The regional infrastructure push is part of GoNetspeed’s broader multi-state initiative, backed by a $110 million initial investment strategy to expand fiber access across its Northeastern footprint.
