StarCharge and Beneficial Holdings ink $3.2B deal for 32 GWh US energy storage expansion

StarCharge Americas Corporation, a leader in energy solutions, has completed a Master Service Agreement (MSA) with Newark-based infrastructure developer Beneficial Holdings, for a multi-billion-dollar program to deploy Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across the United States and Puerto Rico.

The MSA has an estimated contract value of $3.2 billion and encompasses energy projects totaling over 32.24 Gigawatt-hours (GWh) of storage capacity. The first of 29 initial projects is scheduled to launch in June 2026.

This landmark partnership is largely aimed at addressing the soaring energy needs and grid challenges associated with the rapid expansion of data centers, a non-negotiable sector for reliable power.

“The implications of this deal extend far beyond mere numbers,” Andreas Fornwald, chief development officer at StarCharge Americas said. “Such large contracts signal a monumental shift in the U.S. energy storage industry, particularly as it relates to the burgeoning demand for data centers.”

The BESS solutions provided by StarCharge are designed to improve grid reliability, ease congestion issues, and offer critical resilience against power blackouts. StarCharge’s advanced systems will enable faster “black starts,” ensuring that data centers can recover swiftly and maintain operations with minimal disruption.

Dave Hyland, vice president of Sales at StarCharge, noted that their systems are both cost-effective and robust enough to provide the high reliability required by data centers, blending traditional power systems with renewable energy resources for a balanced, sustainable energy mix.

For Beneficial Holdings, the partnership is a strategic move to maximize federal incentives.

“StarCharge Americas is a critical partner as we accessed non-Foreign Entity of Concern (FEOC) partnerships to maximize the investment tax credits (ITC) for our grid scale projects,” Greg Senkevitch, CEO of Beneficial Holdings said.

The collaboration positions StarCharge as a premier supplier in the accelerating US data center boom, utilizing its intelligent and reliable BESS technology to contribute to a more efficient and resilient energy future. The deal also lays the groundwork for StarCharge’s global expansion efforts.
