Valley Medical Group recently announced the launch of therapeutic massage therapy to the organization’s Integrative Medicine Services.
Valley’s integrative medicine practice is located in Ridgewood and is now accepting new patients for therapeutic massage.
Therapeutic massage is a clinical approach to soft tissue therapy that focuses on specific health concerns such as chronic pain, muscle tension, stress-related disorders, and injury recovery. Treatments are provided by licensed massage therapists and integrated into a patient’s broader care plan through a collaborative relationship between Valley’s Integrative Medicine team and the patient’s additional health care clinicians.
Valley’s massage therapists use a variety of specialized techniques, including:
- Deep tissue massage – targeting deep layers of muscles and connective tissue.
- Trigger point therapy – addressing specific points, known as “trigger points,” in the muscles.
- Myofascial release – focusing on fascia, the connective tissue that surrounds muscles, organs, and bones.
- Neuromuscular release and stretching – releasing tension and pain in the muscles and nervous system.
- Sports and recovery massage – targeting the soft tissues to address the demands of physical activity.
- Cupping therapy – using a heated cup to create local suction on the skin.
- Gua sha – gently scraping the skin with a smooth-edged tool.
Valley Medical Group Director of Integrative Medicine Lori Nuzzi explained the purpose.
“Our goal is to support the whole person – body and mind,” she said. “Therapeutic massage at Valley is more than relaxation; it is evidence-based bodywork designed to support healing, pain relief, and overall wellness.”
Services will soon be available in Montvale at a later date.
