NJTransit fare to World Cup matches has been dropped $45

About those $150 NJ Transit tickets to World Cup matches at MetLife Stadium.

NJ Transit CEO Kris Kolluri, in an interview with the Athletic, announced the state has dropped the price to $105 – following an unnamed commitment from “sponsors and other sources.”

The price of the ticket was originally listed as $150 to offset additional costs for security and logistics.

New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill said she was determined to not have regular NJ Transit riders subsidize the increased cost – even asking FIFA to contribute.

To be clear, there is no indication that FIFA has pitched, but Kolluri told the Athletic the price could decrease even more should more sponsorship money come in.

His biggest request remains the same: For people not attempt to walk or take unapproved third-party transportation services.

MetLife Stadium will host eight matches, including the final.
