New Jersey’s health care landscape is officially among the best in the world. In the newly released Newsweek World’s Best Hospitals 2026 report, several Garden State institutions were recognized for their elite medical standards, with Atlantic Health Morristown Medical Center taking the top spot in the state.
Morristown and its sister facility, Atlantic Health Overlook Medical Center, were further honored as “All-Time Champions”—a rare title awarded to hospitals that have made the list every year since the global rankings were first published eight years ago.
Out of 420 U.S. hospitals that made the cut, Morristown Medical Center ranked No. 53 nationally, the highest of any New Jersey provider. Overlook Medical Center also secured a strong national position at No. 186.
“The extraordinary care provided by our teams is truly world-class,” Saad Ehtisham, president and CEO of Atlantic Health said. “I am so proud of our ‘Champions’ and grateful for all they do for our communities.”
In addition to overall quality, both Atlantic Health facilities were named to the Best in Infection Prevention list, which recognizes hospitals that exceed national CDC and Leapfrog standards for hygiene and patient safety.
The 2026 report evaluated over 2,500 hospitals across 32 countries based on medical expert recommendations, patient satisfaction surveys, and rigorous hospital quality metrics.
