Archer & Greiner (“Archer”) announced that Anthony Talarico has officially been certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Criminal Trial Attorney. The prestigious designation is held by fewer than two percent of all licensed attorneys in the state, marking Talarico as a top-tier specialist in the field of criminal litigation.
The certification is not merely a title but a rigorous professional credential. To achieve it, an attorney must prove a high level of experience, including substantial “first-chair” trial work, pass an extensive peer-review process conducted by both sitting judges and fellow lawyers, and successfully complete a comprehensive written examination.
Talarico, a seasoned lead trial lawyer at Archer, focuses his practice on representing corporate clients and individuals in criminal defense matters, regulatory investigations, and high-impact business litigation. This new certification serves as a formal validation of his ability to guide clients through high-pressure legal crises.
Before joining Archer last August, Talarico spent more than a decade in public service as a criminal law prosecutor. His tenure was marked by significant leadership roles, most notably serving as the Chief Assistant Prosecutor at the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.
During his time in Bergen County—New Jersey’s most populous county—Talarico served as the Chief of the Major Crimes Unit. His leadership was historic:
- Youngest Homicide Chief: He became the youngest person to lead the unit in nearly 50 years.
- Massive Caseload: He supervised more than 100 active investigations at any given time, overseeing the prosecution of homicides, fatal accidents, and arsons.
- Policy and Practice: Beyond the courtroom, he managed complex investigations and policy matters that shaped the county’s approach to serious offenses.
Talarico’s transition from the prosecutor’s office to private practice has allowed him to leverage his “inside” knowledge of the justice system for the benefit of Archer’s clients. His certification by the Supreme Court further solidifies Archer’s position as a premier firm for individuals and corporations facing government scrutiny.
“Anthony’s commitment to trial practice is reflected in this certification,” the firm stated, noting that his specialized skills will continue to support his work in defending clients during their most critical legal moments.
