The Union County Improvement Authority (UCIA) has officially reopened Green Lane Park, marking the completion of a comprehensive $3.6 million renovation project that has reimagined the five-acre site as a modern hub for recreation, nature, and community engagement.
The grand reopening was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by local leaders, including State Senator Joe Cryan, UCIA officials and members of the Union County Board of County Commissioners. The project represents a significant investment in local infrastructure, designed to provide residents with an accessible, high-quality outdoor destination.

- Active Recreation: A nature-based playground and an agility trail designed for all ages.
- Nature & Connection: A walking trail network featuring gravel pathways, composite boardwalks, and pedestrian bridges that traverse the park’s wooded areas and wetlands.
- Community Amenities: A sculpture garden, pollinator shade garden, interpretive signage, and various unique seating areas such as natural boulder benches and a “tree bench.”
- Cultural Elements: Dedicated spaces for a community art display, enhancing the park’s appeal as a gathering spot.
“Green Lane Park reflects the Union County Improvement Authority’s commitment to delivering projects that enhance quality of life for residents across Union County,” Bibi Taylor, director of the UCIA, said.
The project was a collaborative effort between the UCIA, Union County, and Union Township. Officials emphasized that the investment is about more than just infrastructure; it is about promoting the long-term health and well-being of the local population.
“Parks are essential to building healthy, connected families,” Joseph Bodek, chairman of the Union County Board of County Commissioners said. “Today’s ribbon-cutting is about investing in the health and well-being of our residents. We’re proud to support projects that enrich our neighborhoods and make Union County an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.”
Green Lane Park is now fully open to the public, inviting residents from Union Township and the surrounding areas to experience the revamped landscape and new recreational facilities.
