Hackettstown-based Centenary University on Wednesday said it appointed Pete Vincent as its new director of athletics. Vincent, a 2007 alumnus and former student-athlete, is returning to his alma mater with more than a decade of experience in collegiate athletics administration and coaching. A native of Jersey City, Vincent most recently served at New Jersey City University (NJCU).
Vice President for Campus Life and Dean of Students Kerry Mullins expressed confidence in the new hire. “With Pete Vincent at the helm, the Cyclones are poised to soar to new heights,” Mullins said.
Vincent spent 14 years at NJCU, holding various leadership roles, including assistant director of athletics. He also co-founded the Rising Knight Institute and served as a sport administrator for several teams. Beyond the collegiate level, Vincent has a strong background in youth sports, having served as a co-director for the United AAU basketball program and as the head girls’ varsity basketball coach at Hudson Catholic High School.
“I am extremely excited to come back to Cyclone Nation and devote my time and energy to making the next chapter here one of the best ever written,” Vincent said of his appointment. “My goal is for every student-athlete to have the opportunity to feel the same way I feel about this wonderful place I call my second home.”
