The Statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey (SHCCNJ) has appointed two new members to its board of directors: Dr. Melissa Baralt, founder of Bee Better Than Me LLC and president of SheCaucus, and Steve Vitale, a nationally recognized Latino executive and strategic leader at Valley Bank.
“These appointments are especially meaningful to me, as I’ve had the privilege of knowing both Melissa and Steve for many years,” Carlos Medina, SHCCNJ President and CEO said. “I’ve long admired their professionalism and their active leadership in the community. They represent the chamber’s continued commitment to building a board as dynamic, visionary, and community rooted as the entrepreneurs we serve.”
Dr. Baralt is an award-winning educator, entrepreneur, and civic advocate with deep roots in the Paterson community. Through her organization, Bee Better Than Me LLC, and her leadership of SheCaucus, she has championed educational equity, civic engagement and youth empowerment—efforts that align with the chamber’s mission to uplift the next generation of Hispanic leaders.
Vitale brings decades of banking experience and a strong record in business development, credit risk and innovation. At Valley Bank, he is recognized for combining financial expertise with a commitment to service. He is also a longtime advocate for using business as a tool for inclusion and long-term community impact.
“Melissa and Steve bring unique strengths and a shared commitment to service and progress that will be invaluable as we expand opportunities for Hispanic-owned businesses across New Jersey and beyond,” Luis De La Hoz, SHCCNJ Board Chairman said.
