Cooper Levenson strengthens Workers’ Comp practice with addition of partner Steven Lewis

Cooper Levenson on Monday announced that Steven Lewis has joined the firm as a partner in its Workers’ Compensation Practice Group. With over two decades of experience, Lewis brings a deep specialization in defending employers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators against workers’ compensation claims.

A veteran litigator, Lewis has dedicated his entire 20-year career to workers’ compensation defense in New Jersey. His expertise spans the full spectrum of the litigation process, representing a diverse roster of local and national employers across various industries.

Lewis joins Cooper Levenson following a successful tenure as a partner at a prominent regional multidisciplinary law firm. His professional background includes:

  • Regional Private Practice: Most recently served as partner, managing workers’ compensation defense for insurance interests across the Eastern United States.

  • In-House Counsel: Spent seven years as staff counsel for a major national insurance company, providing focused statewide representation for New Jersey employers.

  • Defense Litigation: Early career experience as an associate at a large regional firm, honing his skills in high-stakes workers’ compensation matters.

“Steven’s extensive experience and 20-year track record in New Jersey workers’ compensation defense make him an invaluable asset to our team and our clients,” the firm noted in the announcement.

Lewis earned his Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, followed by his Juris Doctor from the Widener University School of Law. He is a licensed practitioner in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

A lifelong resident of the Garden State, Lewis resides in Mullica Hill with his wife and daughter.
