Scarinci Hollenbeck secures prominent seven-attorney group to expand New Jersey public and labor law footprint

Little Falls-based business law firm Scarinci Hollenbeck on Wednesday announced the arrival of veteran attorney Mark Tabakin and his six-lawyer team, a major lateral acquisition that significantly amplifies the firm’s labor, employment, and public sector practices across the state.

Tabakin, an industry veteran with more than 30 years of experience counseling prominent public institutions, school boards, and private corporations, is transitioning his entire core team to Scarinci Hollenbeck’s Little Falls headquarters. Joining Tabakin as partners are Wendy Rubinstein Quiroga and Sean Pena, alongside counsel Joseph Ranieri, senior associate Deanna Digori, and associates Nicholas Wall and Jessica Cunha.

The high-profile team addition spans a broad array of disciplines, including public entity defense, affordable housing, land use, education law, redevelopment, and complex civil litigation.

“Donald Scarinci and I share a vision for what a statewide practice should look like, one that serves private businesses and public entities with the same depth across New Jersey,” Tabakin said regarding the move. “That vision, and the platform Scarinci Hollenbeck has built to deliver it, is what drew me here.”

Throughout his three-decade career, Tabakin has established a reputation as a premier labor negotiator and litigator, regularly representing clients before state and federal administrative bodies such as the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the New Jersey Public Employment Relations Commission (PERC).

Donald Scarinci, managing partner of Scarinci Hollenbeck, characterized the group’s arrival as a defining moment for the firm’s regional expansion strategy.

“Mark Tabakin is one of the most respected attorneys in New Jersey, full stop,” Scarinci said. “He has led a firm. He has counseled the businesses, school boards, municipalities, and authorities that hold this state together… Bringing Mark and his team into Scarinci Hollenbeck is a defining moment in our vision of a statewide practice.”

The acquisition of Tabakin’s team marks the latest phase in a aggressive talent-expansion campaign for Scarinci Hollenbeck. Earlier this year, the firm added four attorneys to its core corporate, bankruptcy, and real estate benches.

In tandem with the seven-lawyer group acquisition, the firm announced two additional staffing updates:

  • Government Talent Influx: The firm has hired Dorian Smith as a Senior Associate within its Labor & Employment and Public Law Groups. Smith joins the firm directly from the New Jersey Governor’s Office, where he served as Senior Counsel in the Authorities Unit from 2022 through January 2026.
  • Pipeline Development: The firm has officially launched its 2026 Summer Associate Program, welcoming two law students to its ranks.
