Greenberg Traurig, LLP, which maintains a significant corporate presence in Florham Park, announced this week that it advised Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (Samsung) on its $175 million investment in Element Biosciences, Inc. (Element).
The transaction, which marks a major milestone in the genomic and multiomic technology sector, positions Samsung as the largest shareholder in the San Diego-based Element Biosciences.
The deal was managed by a multidisciplinary team from across Greenberg Traurig’s global offices. Brian Petrequin, a shareholder based in the firm’s Florham Park office, played a key role on the corporate team. Petrequin, recognized in The Best Lawyers in America® for Mergers and Acquisitions Law, brought his deep transactional experience to the complex financing round.

The $175 million Series E financing is intended to accelerate the commercialization of Element’s genomic and multiomic solutions and expand its global product roadmap. For Samsung, the investment is a calculated move to deepen its footprint in precision medicine and next-generation sequencing.
The Greenberg Traurig team involved in the deal spanned continents, with shareholders and associates coordinating from Atlanta, Seoul, Singapore, and New Jersey. Beyond corporate and M&A counsel, the deal required specialized input from the firm’s practice groups in:
