Johnson & Johnson and TIME announce inaugural ‘Healthcare Champion of the Year’ award

Johnson & Johnson and TIME have officially launched the “Healthcare Champion of the Year” award, a new initiative designed to honor U.S. health care professionals who demonstrate exceptional grit, innovation, and care in their fields.

The partnership aims to spotlight individuals who are driving significant change within the health care system, particularly as health systems across the nation face increasing pressure. By recognizing these leaders, the organizations hope to highlight the vital importance of leadership at the point of care.

Celebrating the leaders shaping health

The award is open to a wide range of healthcare professionals actively involved in clinical care or delivery within the United States, including:

  • Physicians and surgeons
  • Nurses and advanced practice clinicians
  • Community health workers
  • Care navigators

“Healthcare professionals bring skill, compassion and resolve to some of the most important moments in people’s lives,” Vanessa Broadhurst, executive vice president of Global Corporate Affairs at Johnson & Johnson, said. “With the Healthcare Champion of the Year Award, we proudly recognize those whose compassion, innovation, and grit are transforming patient care today and building a healthier tomorrow.”

How to submit a nomination

The nomination period opens today, July 16 and will remain open until 5:00 p.m. ET on Aug. 28, 2026.

Nominees should demonstrate real-world impact and excellence in one or more of the program’s core themes: grit, innovation, or patient care. Submissions are reviewed by Johnson & Johnson and a panel of industry experts.

The inaugural honoree will be formally recognized leading up to TIME’s “A Year in TIME” celebration, scheduled for Dec. 9 in New York City.

This award builds upon Johnson & Johnson’s long-standing commitment to the global health workforce, particularly through its J&J CareCommunity platform. The company continues to invest in nurses and community health workers to expand access to quality care and strengthen health systems worldwide.
