Cooper’s goal: Continue her role as staunch supporter of AC

Longest-tenured member of N.J. Control Commission aims to remain active in city

Alisa Cooper has concluded her tenure as a member of the N.J. Casino Control Commission,
but she is determined to continue in her role as a staunch advocate for Atlantic City.

Cooper, who left the commission this summer after a record 13 years of service, said
she is eager to take on new challenges.

“While I’m starting a new chapter as I move on from the Commission, I’m definitely not
retiring,” she said. “I’m excited to remain actively involved and promote Atlantic City and
the region — places that are incredibly important to me.

“I eagerly look forward to future endeavors and initiatives, and I am dedicated to its
continued growth and development.”

A respected figure in both the regulatory and local communities, Cooper leaves a legacy
as the longest-serving commissioner in the commission’s history, having played a
pivotal role in upholding the integrity of New Jersey’s casino industry since her initial
appointment by Gov. Chris Christie and subsequent re-appointment by Gov. Phil
Murphy.

During her extensive service, Cooper was instrumental in navigating numerous
significant events and issues, consistently championing the commission’s core values.
Her leadership and insight have been invaluable to the regulatory landscape of New
Jersey’s casino industry.

Cooper’s diverse career path, spanning roles from entertainer to educator, elected
official to regulator, has provided a unique perspective that greatly benefited the
commission. As an Atlantic City native, her dedication to the city’s growth and
development into a world-class gaming resort has been particularly fulfilling.

Reflecting on her time, Cooper expressed profound gratitude for the opportunity to
serve the people of New Jersey.

“It’s been an incredibly exciting journey,” she said. “I’m proud to have helped uphold the
commission’s commitment to honesty and integrity since its inception in 1977.”
Mario Formica, an attorney in Atlantic County who has served in the Atlantic County
Prosecutor’s Office, succeeded Cooper on the commission.
