CSG Law welcomes compliance veteran Rebecca Moll Freed to government & regulatory group

Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi PC (CSG Law) on Thursday officially announced the addition of Rebecca Moll Freed as a member of the firm’s Government & Regulatory Law Group.

Freed joins CSG Law with a formidable reputation in New Jersey’s legal and political landscape, specializing in a “crossover” practice that serves as a bridge between high-stakes corporate operations and complex government compliance. Her arrival marks a significant expansion of the firm’s ability to navigate the evolving regulatory environment in the Garden State.

Freed’s practice is defined by its breadth across multiple industries, including energy, utilities, and infrastructure. She is widely recognized for her expertise in:

  • Pay-to-play & political compliance: Helping corporations and PACs navigate state and local contribution limits and ethics rules.

  • Government procurement: Guiding vendors through the “regulatory thicket” of RFPs, pre-qualification questionnaires, and bid protests.

  • Diversity in contracting: Advising on set-asides for Minority and Women-Owned Businesses (MWBEs) and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs).

  • Energy & utility infrastructure: Collaborating with solar and offshore wind companies on procurement and lobbying compliance before the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU).

“Rebecca is an outstanding addition to the firm,” said Marie Mathews, Managing Member of CSG Law. “Her extensive compliance and regulatory experience will enhance the value we provide to clients across industries.”

Freed expressed enthusiasm about joining CSG Law during a period of growth for both the firm and the state’s regulatory infrastructure. She will work closely with practice leaders Patrick O’Reilly and Eric Brophy.

“I am thrilled to be joining CSG Law at such an exciting time in the State of New Jersey,” Freed said. “I am looking forward to… continuing to help clients successfully navigate the government contracting, political and regulatory landscape.”

A graduate of Tufts University and Georgetown University Law Center. She currently serves as president of the Newark Academy Alumni Board of Governors and is a longtime advocate for professional development within the legal community.

Prior to joining CSG Law, Freed held senior partner roles at other prominent New Jersey firms where she directed Corporate Political Activity and Non-Profit practice groups.
