Devils to host annual ‘Hockey Fights Cancer’ night, supporting pediatric cancer classroom at Jack & Sheryl Morris Cancer Center

The New Jersey Devils will host their annual Hockey Fights Cancer Night presented by RWJBarnabas Health on Nov. 29, 2025, when they take on the Philadelphia Flyers at the Prudential Center at 7:00 PM.

The event will raise funds to benefit the classroom in the pediatric hematology/oncology clinic at the Jack & Sheryl Morris Cancer Center—New Jersey’s only freestanding cancer hospital.

A central part of the evening will be honoring 7-year-old Devils fan Trevor Bobev of Somerset. Trevor, a graduate of the Devils’ Learn to Play program, was diagnosed with Burkitt’s Lymphoma at age four and successfully treated at Rutgers Cancer Institute, together with RWJBarnabas Health.

  • Trevor’s VIP Experience: Trevor will be a special guest for both the team practice on November 25 and the game on November 29. His gameday experience includes walking in with the players, watching warm-ups from the bench, joining the starting lineup read, and participating in the ceremonial puck drop.

  • Hero of the Game: The team will honor Dr. Archana Sharma, pediatric hematologist/oncologist and director of the pediatric survivorship program at the Jack & Sheryl Morris Cancer Center, as the Hero of the Game. Dr. Sharma was Trevor’s physician and focuses on treating pediatric cancer, blood cancers, and cancer survivorship.

Dr. Steven Libutti, Director of Rutgers Cancer Institute, expressed gratitude for the collaboration, stating, “Conquering cancer requires collaboration, and we are grateful for the support of the New Jersey Devils and the NHL, as Hockey Fights Cancer is such a meaningful initiative.”

The Devils have planned several initiatives to raise funds for the pediatric clinic classroom and increase awareness:

  • Mystery Puck Sale: A limited number of player-autographed mystery pucks will be sold for $25 on the main concourse.

  • Jersey Auction: Special Hockey Fights Cancer-themed jerseys worn by the players will be auctioned off online from November 29 through December 6 at newjerseydevils.com/auction.

  • 50/50 Raffle: The night’s 50/50 funds will also benefit the classroom at the Jack & Sheryl Morris Cancer Center.

  • Lighting Up Lavender: The Prudential Center’s M&M’s and Citizens towers will be lit purple (the official Hockey Fights Cancer color), and the on-ice dasher boards will turn lavender for the evening.

In addition to Trevor, Marco Escalona, a Devils Youth Hockey Program coach and cancer survivor who recently returned to coaching, will be honored as the Campbell’s Hometown Hockey Hero. Furthermore, New Jersey Youth Hockey goalies who raised $195,920 for cancer research through the October Saves campaign will be recognized, with a check presentation made to the Cancer Center classroom.
