Highly regarded attorney Patrick Dunican has joined Connell Foley as a partner in the firm’s Corporate Practice Group.
Dunican, who will work out of the firm’s Roseland office, will focus on law firm consulting, expert opinion, risk management and higher education governance, while also supporting the firm’s business development and client relationship initiatives.
Dunican is well known throughout the state, having previously served as managing director and executive chairperson at Gibbons P.C. for nearly two decades before leaving the firm in early 2024.
He’s also a top lawyer — especially in regard to higher ed.
Dunican brings unique experience in higher education governance, having served over 13 years on Iona University’s Board of Legal Trustees, including as chair from 2020-22. He led transformational initiatives, including the institution’s transition from college to university status and the acquisition of the Bronxville campus. He also served 20 years on Seton Hall Law School’s Board of Visitors, serving as a founding member and chairman and helping elevate it to become New Jersey’s top-ranked law school.
Dunican told BINJE he’s delighted to join Connell Foley.
“It’s a great law firm,” he said. “I wanted meaning and purpose, and this provides both.”
Connell Foley Managing Partner Tim Corriston said the announcement is a win-win.
“Pat’s addition to our partnership represents a significant milestone for him and Connell Foley,” he said. “His reputation as a ‘lawyer’s lawyer’ and his extensive network across legal, business, government and academic sectors will be invaluable as we continue to expand our capabilities and provide comprehensive business and legal solutions to our client’s complex challenges.”
Dunican’s exceptional track record of law firm leadership, combined with his expertise in crisis management, strategic planning and relationship building, has led to more accolades than you can count.
He said he’s looking forward to the opportunity.
“I am excited to join Connell Foley at this pivotal time in the firm’s growth,” he said. “Connell Foley’s dedication to client service and its collaborative culture are closely aligned with my professional values, establishing an effective partnership for both existing and prospective clients. I look forward to contributing to the firm’s continued success.”
