Eos Energy appoints Jabil veteran John Mahaz as COO to lead manufacturing scale-up

Eos Energy Enterprises, an Edison-based energy company specializing in zinc-based battery energy storage systems, has appointed John Mahaz as its new chief operating officer (COO). The move signals Eos’s strategic focus on scaling its manufacturing and operations to meet the rising demand for sustainable energy solutions.

In that role, he oversaw more than 70,000 employees and generated over $14 billion in annual revenue, earning multiple Shingo Prizes for Operational Excellence.

“Achieving our growth objectives requires operational excellence,” Eos CEO Joe Mastrangelo said. “John is a seasoned leader with a clear playbook for globally scaling operations. His track record across complex, high-growth environments makes him the ideal leader to help us expand our footprint.”

Mahaz’s background includes launching production facilities and leading the rebuild of manufacturing operations in Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria, demonstrating his expertise in mission-critical industries like Defense, Aerospace, and Health care.

In his new role, Mahaz will lead the company’s operations, supply chain, and manufacturing strategy as Eos enters a phase of rapid growth.

“This company isn’t just growing—it’s striving to scale in a way that can reshape the energy storage industry,” Mahaz said. “The opportunity to replicate production lines and build a global manufacturing footprint around a transformative American-made technology is exactly the kind of challenge I’m built for.”
