Lowenstein Sandler on Monday announced the addition of Arthur Armstrong as a partner in its Insurance Recovery Group. Armstrong’s arrival marks a continuation of the group’s dramatic expansion, which has seen its number of partners double over the past year.
Armstrong joins Lowenstein Sandler after having previously served as a partner at Reed Smith and Anderson Kill.
Armstrong’s practice is dedicated exclusively to representing corporate policyholders in high-stakes insurance recovery matters, specializing in securing and maximizing coverage under a wide range of policies, including cyber, first-party property, Commercial General Liability, D&O, and E&O. He brings extensive experience counseling clients through the entire claim lifecycle, from policy negotiation to complex litigation. Notably, his background includes significant work in cyber insurance, assisting clients who have suffered ransomware attacks and data breaches.
Lynda Bennett, chair of the Insurance Recovery Group, praised the new hire, stating, “Arthur’s background aligns exceedingly well with our practice. Not only has he been a highly respected coverage attorney for decades, his depth of experience in cyber and first-party business interruption claims complements our existing depth in the areas of Reps & Warranty and D&O insurance.”
Armstrong expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “I am eager to collaborate with Lowenstein’s renowned Insurance Recovery team on its cutting-edge coverage work advocating for businesses against insurance companies. I am impressed by the firm’s solid foundation, strategic plan for sustained growth, and alignment with many areas of my own practice, particularly in the sectors of private equity and technology.”
The Insurance Recovery Group has been growing rapidly. This year alone, it welcomed partner Jeremy King in August, alongside several associates and counsel.
The practice is currently engaged in several high-profile matters, including representing BASF in a major insurance recovery litigation seeking coverage for alleged PFAS liabilities, and Clear Channel in securing D&O coverage for an eight-figure regulatory claim settlement. The group is also representing Mist Pharmaceuticals in a significant case before the New Jersey Supreme Court concerning an insurer’s unreasonable delay tactics.
