New NJ Transit Station to open in Lyndhurst

The new Lyndhurst rail station recently celebrated its completion. Trains will begin utilizing the $30.9 million facility June 8 to coincide with new rail schedules. Lyndhurst station, located on the Main Line, serves more than 800 weekday passenger trips.

Located just east of the current station, TRANSIT’s new facility is fully ADA accessible, providing high-level platforms and new elevators, stairs, and canopies, making for a safer, enhanced travel experience for all customers. It was designed to replicate the historic style of the neighborhood.

NJ TRANSIT President and CEO Kris Kolluri was joined by Congresswoman Nellie Pou, State Senator Paul Sarlo, Assemblyman Clinton Calabrese, Bergen County Executive James Tedesco and Lyndhurst Mayor Robert Giangeruso to showcase the new facility including its accessible features.

“The completion of the new Lyndhurst Station is another step in our ongoing commitment to modernize our rail network and provide fully accessible facilities for all customers,” Kolluri said. “By combining classic architectural elements with modern amenities, this new station demonstrates how thoughtful design can deliver long-term value to customers and the community.”

“This beautiful new station is itself a monument to the cooperation between our federal, state, and local officials, and most of all: determined Lyndhurst citizens,” Pou said. “Over $30 million in federal support was used to create a facility that is ADA ready and will provide a safer, more comfortable environment for our commuters. This federal investment will encourage public transit ridership, give a needed boost to NJ TRANSIT, and is a down payment on Lyndhurst and Bergen County’s future.”
