It’s the type of groundbreakings all municipalities dream of.
When Perth Amboy and Kurv Industrial (formerly Bridge Industrial) marked the start of construction and celebrated the dedication of 18.6 acres of land at 555 Market Street, it marked the redevelopment of a 44-acre spot that the city is calling, ‘A Foundation of the Future.’

The Gateway Project, a 44-acre brownfield redevelopment, will transform long-contaminated industrial property near the Route 35 Victory Bridge into a modern commercial, logistics, and public recreation destination.
As part of the redevelopment, 18.6 acres are being dedicated to benefit the City, including:
- 9.2 acres of permanent public open space for future parks, trails, recreation, and environmental stewardship.
- 9.4 acres of pad-ready land that will support future redevelopment, economic opportunity, and continued investment in Perth Amboy.
The project is expected to create approximately 400 long-term jobs and generate about $1 million in annual revenue for the city.
“When people see the changes happening at Gateway, they should understand what’s behind it,” Caba said. “This work is about directly improving everyday life in the neighborhood. It’s also about expanding what’s possible for the city, including continued investment in brownfield redevelopment to maximize future opportunities.”
The Gateway Project is part of more than $1 billion in redevelopment advanced under the Caba Administration.
