In a market increasingly driven by conscientious consumers and investors, Newsweek and Statista have released their seventh annual ranking of America’s Most Responsible Companies.
The 2026 list recognizes 600 U.S. public companies that demonstrate a holistic commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR), evaluated through rigorous data analysis of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance, alongside a public reputation survey.
New Jersey continues to be a hub for corporate citizenship, with 20 companies headquartered in the Garden State making the prestigious list. These firms span diverse industries—from pharmaceuticals and utility services to retail and financial services—highlighting a broad regional dedication to ethical business practices.

The ranking is designed to promote transparency and accountability. To be considered, companies had to be among the top 2,000 public firms by revenue headquartered in the U.S. and pass a strict screening process, which included publishing a 2023 or 2024 sustainability report and having no involvement in major scandals.
The final evaluation was based on two equally weighted pillars:
-
Quantitative KPI Research: Assessment of over 30 measurable indicators across Environmental (emissions, waste), Social (diversity, philanthropy), and Governance (economic performance, transparency) dimensions.
-
CSR Reputation Survey: A large-scale perception survey of U.S. residents regarding each company’s commitment to responsible practices.
