Six Flags Entertainment Corporation announced a massive expansion of its subscription-style Membership program today, a corporate pivot that will fundamentally shift how New Jersey theme park consumers budget for and experience regional entertainment.
Beginning June 8, the company will roll out its continuous, low-monthly-payment Membership model to six additional North American parks. For New Jersey residents, the most impactful detail hits close to home: the newly introduced multi-park “East Region” tier will formally bridge the gap between Ocean County’s Six Flags Great Adventure, Wild Safari, and Hurricane Harbor New Jersey and its longtime regional neighbors, including Pennsylvania’s Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom.
The move is part of a deliberate long-term business strategy to convert traditional, single-payment seasonal visitors into a more predictable, year-round recurring revenue stream.
Historically, regional theme park operators have relied heavily on standard, fixed-term Season Passes. These passes require a significant upfront financial investment and strictly expire at the end of the calendar operating season.
The expanded Membership program introduces an alternative model modeled after popular digital streaming services.
| Feature | Six Flags Membership Program | Traditional Season Pass |
| Payment Model | Low monthly subscription fee (after initial payment) | One-time, upfront lump sum |
| Pass Duration | Continuous 12-month access from the date of sign-up | Expires automatically at the end of the operating season |
| Renewal Friction | Zero; remains active continuously until cancelled | Requires manual renewal and re-activation every year |
| Access Scope | Built-in regional or national multi-park networks | Historically restricted to a single home park or select chains |
Under the corporate restructuring, the Gold Membership tier groups properties into geographical clusters. New Jersey thrill-seekers opting into the East Region pass will gain access to an interconnected network of parks along the Eastern Seaboard.
This regional network includes:
- Six Flags Great Adventure, Wild Safari, & Hurricane Harbor (Jackson, N.J.) – Boasting its new Shoreline Pier coastal-themed area and 14th roller coaster.
- Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom (Allentown, Pa.) – NEW to the program; featuring the Iron Menace dive coaster and the new Splash! Water Parade.
- Carowinds & Carolina Harbor (Charlotte, N.C.) – NEW to the program; featuring an expanded Camp Snoopy.
- Kings Dominion & Soak City (Doswell, Va.) – NEW to the program; showcasing Rapterra, a record-breaking launched wing coaster.
- Six Flags New England & Hurricane Harbor (Springfield, Mass.) – Featuring the new Quantum Accelerator straddle coaster.
- Six Flags Over Georgia & White Water (Atlanta/Marietta, Ga.)
For premium consumers, the higher-tier Prestige Membership will grant access to all participating Six Flags properties across the United States, Mexico, and Canada, while throwing in perks like preferred parking and skip-the-line privileges.
From a hyper-local business perspective, launching the subscription expansion at the onset of June is highly tactical. By introducing the payment structure right as traditional spring promotional discounts wrap up, Six Flags is positioned to capture peak summer tourism demand while locking in consumer commitment long after the gates close for the winter.
For the Jackson properties—which rely heavily on dense summer crowds followed by autumn’s Fright Fest—smoothing out the seasonal cash flow curve is a major financial win.
“Expanding our Membership program reflects a deliberate shift toward a more stable, recurring revenue model,” Chris Meyering, Six Flags’ senior vice president of commercial said. “While meeting guests where they are, we’re creating a more resilient business that supports continued reinvestment across our parks.”
