Celularity Inc., a Florham Park-headquartered biotech company specializing in placental-derived cellular therapies and longevity medicine, announced on Wednesday the appointment of Rick Gonzalez as its new chief commercial officer.
Gonzalez took the helm of the company’s global commercial operations the end of May. He is reporting directly to Robert Hariri, Celularity’s chairman, CEO, and founder. In his new role, Gonzalez is tasked with scaling the global commercial strategy and cross-functional rollout for cenplacel-L, the company’s leading cellular therapy asset, alongside Lifebank, its consumer-facing cellular banking platform.
“Rick’s appointment comes at an important time for Celularity as we continue to advance our revenue-generating strategy and expand the reach of our regenerative medicine platform,” Hariri said. “We believe Rick’s experience building commercial organizations and executing disciplined growth strategies across complex healthcare markets will be important as we seek to expand responsible access to cenplacel-L [and] enhance our Lifebank offering.”
Gonzalez joins Celularity with more than 20 years of executive leadership experience across the medical technology, precision medicine, and digital health sectors.
His background features a series of high-growth corporate milestones:
- Alume Biosciences: Served as chief commercial officer, orchestrating global market access, launch readiness, and pricing for a clinical-stage surgical visualization platform.
- Navidea Biopharmaceuticals: As president, CEO, and director, he successfully advanced a precision diagnostic platform, driving a 2.5x year-over-year revenue increase.
- Spectrum Pharmaceuticals: As senior vice president of Global Operations, he engineered international expansion strategies that successfully scaled corporate revenues from $7.7 million to approximately $300 million.
Additionally, Gonzalez has held early-career leadership positions at several major healthcare corporations, including Genzyme, Abraxis, and Roche.
Gonzalez’s immediate commercial focus will center on Celularity’s two primary pillars: Cenplacel-L Commercialization and Lifebank Expansion.
“Celularity has a differentiated foundation in placental-derived cellular therapy, a near-term commercial opportunity with cenplacel-L, [and] the Lifebank cellular banking platform,” Gonzalez said. “My focus will be on building disciplined commercial infrastructure, strengthening physician engagement, aligning cross-functional execution, and helping translate Celularity’s scientific and manufacturing capabilities into sustainable commercial growth.
