Woodbridge-based law firm Wilentz, Goldman & Spitzer, P.A. announced on Wednesday that it served as legal counsel to Affinius Capital and Vista Hill Partners in the successful $3.5 billion acquisition of Veris Residential, Inc.
The blockbuster all-cash transaction officially transitions Veris Residential from a publicly traded real estate investment trust (REIT) into a privately held company. The completion of the acquisition represents the final step in a multi-year transformation for the company, which previously operated as Mack-Cali Realty Corp.
Headquartered in Jersey City, Veris Residential owns and operates an extensive portfolio of Class A multifamily luxury properties positioned across premier Northeast markets, including New Jersey, New York and Massachusetts.
The Wilentz Real Estate and Redevelopment Team played a vital role in the multi-billion-dollar deal, providing critical legal counsel on due diligence matters specifically tied to Veris Residential’s premier properties located in Jersey City, Harrison and Millburn. The firm worked closely alongside an elite collaborative network of financial advisors and international law firms to bring the transaction to a close.
Founded in 1919 and headquartered in Woodbridge Wilentz, Goldman & Spitzer, P.A. is one of the state’s largest and most historic full-service law firms.
