Vango Development officially broke ground on “The Vantage,” a highly anticipated four-story mixed-use project that will reshape a corner of Downtown Westfield. The development, located at 112 Ferris Place, is set to deliver 60 upscale rental residences—including nine affordable housing units—along with modern amenities, ground-floor retail, and a commitment to preserving local history.
The celebratory groundbreaking event was attended by key stakeholders, including Westfield Mayor Shelley Brindle, members of the Town Council, and former municipal officials, signifying years of collaborative planning. The community is projected to welcome its first residents in early 2027.
“Breaking ground on The Vantage is an important moment for both Vango Development and the Town of Westfield,” Van Golemis, CEO of Vango Development said. “This project reflects years of planning and the collective efforts of both the current administration and the leadership that came before it… Our goal is to deliver a building that fits seamlessly into the neighborhood, honors the site’s history, and provides a sophisticated new residential option for those who love Westfield’s quality of life.”
A central feature of the development is the Mills-Ferris-Pearsall House, an 18th-century structure designated as a historic landmark. The house will be carefully relocated, restored, and transformed into a community-facing educational and cultural resource, integrating its history with the new development.
Mayor Brindle praised the project as an example of thoughtful integration. “I’m thrilled to see The Vantage get underway, which represents the smart development ideals that have guided our planning process,” Brindle stated, also thanking James Ward for his original vision and commitment to the house’s preservation.
Designed by CPA Architecture and MHS Architecture, The Vantage aligns with the Town of Westfield’s “Prospect & Ferris Redevelopment Plan.” The building will feature a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom floorplans, including three unique live-work units with separate entrances. A single ground-floor retail space at the corner of Prospect Street and Ferris Place is planned to enhance neighborhood walkability and convenience.
Residential units will feature high-end finishes, including quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances, and luxury plank flooring. Resident amenities will include:
-
An amenity courtyard with outdoor lounging and dining areas.
-
A clubhouse with fitness facilities.
-
Modern conveniences such as Amazon Hub package lockers, ButterflyMX access, and EV charging stations.
The design, massing, and landscaping have all been calibrated to respect the existing neighborhood character, creating a welcoming architectural entry point into Downtown Westfield.
