Bridgewater’s Norris McLaughlin expands litigation bench with tech-focused member Seth Abrams

Norris McLaughlin, P.A., a leading multi-practice commercial law firm in the tri-state area, has announced the appointment of Seth Abrams as a member in its Bridgewater office. Abrams joins the firm’s Litigation practice group, bringing a specialized focus on complex commercial disputes and the legal challenges of emerging technologies.

The move marks a strategic expansion for Norris McLaughlin as it seeks to bolster its capabilities in technology-related matters and high-stakes commercial litigation.

Abrams has built a reputation as a business-focused litigator who serves as outside general counsel for mid-sized companies, entrepreneurs, and closely held businesses across New Jersey and New York. His practice is particularly notable for its deep roots in Central New Jersey’s vibrant economic corridors.

Abrams represents a significant number of clients within the region’s Indian business community, offering tailored advice to companies in the food import/export and IT sectors. These industries often face a complex intersection of regulatory compliance, international supply-chain logistics, and contract performance risks.

“Seth is a strategic litigator with deep experience guiding clients through complex disputes, and his fluency in emerging technology issues will be an immediate asset,” David Roberts, chair of Norris McLaughlin, P.A., said. “We are excited to welcome him as we continue to expand our capabilities in commercial and technology-related matters.”

Abrams’ litigation experience is comprehensive, spanning both state and federal courts. His portfolio includes:

  • Commercial Disputes: Shareholder and partnership conflicts, trade secrets, and unfair competition.
  • Alternative Financing: Substantial experience in disputes involving merchant cash advance agreements and hard-lender arrangements.
  • Estate & Trust Litigation: Representing fiduciaries and beneficiaries in high-value will contests and misconduct claims.
  • Insolvency Risks: Advising debtor businesses on leverage and strategic negotiation.

Abrams’ perspective is further informed by his early career service in the New Jersey Superior Court, Chancery Division. His clerkship for the Hon. Catherine Langlois, P.J. Ch. (Ret.) provided him with foundational insights into the court’s view of complex equity and commercial matters.

For Abrams, the move to the Bridgewater-based firm was driven by a desire for a collaborative environment that supports practice growth without losing the personal touch required for mid-market clients.

“I was drawn to Norris McLaughlin because it offers meaningful opportunity for experienced litigators while maintaining the culture and client focus that matter most to me,” Abrams said. “It’s a firm built for lawyers who want to grow their practices while staying deeply engaged in their work.”

Abrams earned his J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law and his B.A. from Syracuse University.
