NJ TRANSIT has officially announced a new corporate partnership with DoorDash, a move that includes renaming the Meadowlands Rail Line to the “DoorDash Meadowlands Rail Line.”
This one-year sponsorship is designed to generate significant non-farebox revenue for the transit agency, supporting its operations during the influx of visitors expected for the FIFA World Cup 2026™ without increasing costs for daily commuters.
With New Jersey set to host eight World Cup matches at MetLife Stadium, the partnership aims to provide a high-visibility brand presence for the more than 300,000 tournament fans expected to utilize the rail system.
“This significant sponsorship with DoorDash is exactly the kind of non-farebox revenue strategy that Governor Sherrill directed us to execute,” said NJ TRANSIT President & CEO Kris Kolluri. “DoorDash’s investment ensures that hundreds of thousands of World Cup fans coming through New Jersey will do so on a transit system that’s well-resourced and ready to deliver.”
During the tournament, transit riders and soccer fans will see DoorDash’s branding integrated throughout the commuting experience:
- Renamed Rail Line: Official signage and maps will reflect the “DoorDash Meadowlands Rail Line.”
- Locomotives: Two locomotives operating on the line during match days will feature custom DoorDash branding.
- Digital Integration: Branding will appear on NJ TRANSIT World Cup digital tickets within the mobile app.
- Station Presence: DoorDash will serve as the presenting sponsor of the NJ TRANSIT “Countdown Clock to the World Cup” and will have prominent signage at Secaucus Junction.
Following the conclusion of the World Cup, the partnership is set to expand its reach across the state’s transportation network. Plans include five branded NJ TRANSIT buses operating in North Jersey, promotional activations at Secaucus Junction, and continued branding presence on official rail system maps.
“DoorDash is in New Jersey communities every single day,” Katherine Rodriguez, head of East Public Policy at DoorDash said. “When Governor Sherrill challenged the private sector to show up for this state, we wanted to be the company that answered. We’re proud to help make sure this train runs, and that it runs for New Jerseyans.”
