The New York Cosmos will host a joint press conference at The Stonewall Inn this
afternoon to announce the New York Cosmos as the Official Soccer Club of The
Stonewall Inn, connecting two historic New York institutions through sport, culture, and
community.
The announcement also will serve as a lead-in to the Cosmos’ Pride Night match, June
6 at Hinchliffe Stadium in Paterson.
Gus Penaranda, the head of the Evolvere Consulting and the Evolvere NJ UNITY
Chamber, said the importance of partnership and game night are significant.
“This is a feel-good story in a world of hate and war,” he said.
The announcement with The Stonewall Inn will take place at 1p.m. at The Stonewall Inn
on Christopher Street in New York City.
The game will bring together supporters, local organizations, and members of the
LGBTQ+ community to celebrate inclusion and honor those who have shaped the game
and the communities around it.
During Pride Night, Cosmos players will wear a limited-edition Pride warm-up top
designed by Rich Tu, the artist behind the official New York/New Jersey FIFA World
Cup 2026 poster.
The Cosmos, owned by Baye Adofo-Wilson, who led the redevelopment efforts of
Hincliffe Stadium, have the name and likeness of the former NASL team that was once
one of the best-known clubs in the world.
