$250K raised at Cooper Cup Golf Outing to support patients and care teams

The greens of the Ramblewood Country Club were transformed into a hub of philanthropy on May 6, as more than 200 golfers and community leaders gathered for the 6th Annual Cooper Cup Golf Outing.

The sold-out event, hosted by The Cooper Foundation, successfully raised $250,000 to benefit Cooper University Health Care. The funds are earmarked for critical programs across the South Jersey health system, supporting everything from high-level clinical research to the direct support of the frontline teams who care for the region’s residents.

A major focus of this year’s fundraising efforts is the investment in the “people behind the care.” A significant portion of the $250,000 will be dedicated to the Cooper nursing team, providing resources for:

  • Expanded Education: Grants and scholarships for continuing nursing education.

  • Professional Growth: Programs designed to strengthen career development within the health system.

  • Emotional & Clinical Support: Ensuring nurses have the tools and environment needed to provide compassionate care to patients and families.

“This year’s outing is about more than a day on the course,” Philip Norcross, chairman of The Cooper Foundation Board of Trustees, said. “We’re proud to ensure our nurses have the support they need to be there for patients and families when it matters most.”

The event brought together an influential group of corporate partners and community leaders, unified by the goal of advancing healthcare in Camden and the surrounding counties.

“I’m always struck by the energy and generosity this event brings out,” Dr. Anthony J. Mazzarelli, co-CEO of Cooper University Health Care said. He noted that the funds are essential for providing teams with the equipment and resources necessary to continue delivering advanced care.

Co-CEO Kevin O’Dowd echoed those sentiments, expressing gratitude for the “dedicated community of supporters” who believe in the mission of the health system.

The Cooper Foundation extended special recognition to its key corporate partners, including the Torcon/P. Agnes Joint Venture, GHR Healthcare, and Pure PM, whose sponsorships were instrumental in reaching the quarter-million-dollar milestone.

Lisa Morina, senior vice president and chief philanthropy officer at The Cooper Foundation, highlighted the event’s unique ability to turn a day of recreation into a powerful community statement. “What makes the Cooper Cup so meaningful is how it brings people together around a shared purpose—and turns that energy into real support for our patients,” Morina added.

As Cooper University Health Care continues to expand its footprint in the Tri-State area, the Cooper Cup remains a cornerstone of its efforts to bridge the gap between community generosity and frontline clinical excellence.
