Made Scientific, a prominent U.S.-based cell therapy contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO), has officially opened its new 60,000-square-foot GMP manufacturing facility and headquarters in Princeton. The ribbon-cutting ceremony, held on Aug. 13, was attended by a host of federal, state, and local officials, including New Jersey Department of Labor Commissioner Robert Asaro-Angelo, Assemblywoman Tennille McCoy, and Plainsboro Township Mayor Edmund Yates.
The event marks a significant milestone for both the company and the region, underscoring New Jersey’s growing influence in the advanced biomanufacturing and cell and gene therapy sectors.
“Made Scientific’s investment in Plainsboro Township is a testament to how New Jersey continues to lead the nation in life sciences and advanced biomanufacturing,” Gov. Phil Murphy said. “Investing in this new facility creates good-paying, high-quality jobs for New Jerseyans. We are proud of companies like Made Scientific that are fueling the advancement of life-saving therapies and driving our innovation economy forward.”
This initial $12 million investment in facility upgrades and equipment positions Made Scientific to support the next generation of cell therapies globally. The company has already announced a second phase of expansion and is expected to create more than 100 new skilled jobs.
According to Made Scientific Chairman and CEO Syed Husain, the facility represents more than a new building.
“This facility is a testament to our dedication to supporting the next generation of cell therapy innovators for clinical-to-commercial manufacturing, all under one roof,” Husain said. He emphasized that the new site is equipped with a globally compliant infrastructure and high-throughput GMP capacity to help partners efficiently bring transformative therapies to patients.
The new Princeton facility is equipped with five ISO 7 / Grade B cleanrooms, in-house quality control labs, and advanced digital infrastructure to ensure operational rigor and program visibility for clients. The company has also announced an additional 12,000 square-foot expansion to further increase its manufacturing cleanroom space. Once fully operational, this expansion will boost capacity by up to 2,000 additional batches per year, firmly establishing the Princeton headquarters as a Center of Excellence for clinical-and-commercial supply.
The grand opening celebration included tours of the new facility, allowing guests to see the purpose-built process development labs and GMP cleanroom suites.
