Cherry Hill-based Multiple Sclerosis Association of America names Amanda Montague president & CEO

The Multiple Sclerosis Association of America (MSAA) announced the appointment of Amanda Montague as its new president and CEO. The move rewards a 21-year veteran of the Cherry Hill-headquartered nonprofit, following her successful nine-month tenure as interim president and CEO.

Montague, a highly respected figure in the national MS community, previously served as the organization’s chief mission officer. In that role, she was credited with spearheading innovative programs and educational initiatives that bridged the gap between health care professionals and those living with multiple sclerosis.

The appointment comes after an extensive evaluation by the MSAA Board of Directors. Jason Slattery, Chair of the Board, emphasized that Montague’s deep-rooted understanding of the organization’s culture and operational needs made her the clear choice for the permanent role.

“The Board ultimately made a decision that Amanda Montague is the right person, at the right time for this organization to continue to prosper,” Slattery said. “We look forward to working with her to take MSAA to new frontiers.”

Montague’s influence extends far beyond South Jersey. Her professional portfolio includes:

  • National Policy Work: Serving as a Stakeholder Reviewer for the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) in Washington, D.C.
  • Clinical Standards: Participating as a member of the American Academy of Neurology’s (AAN) MS Quality Measure Review Panel.
  • Published Research: Contributing groundbreaking research to major journals and international conferences, specifically focusing on the unmet needs of individuals living with MS.

Her academic credentials are equally diverse, including a BA in Economics from Smith College, an EdM from Harvard Graduate School of Education, and an MA in International Patient Advocacy Management from Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome.

For Montague, the appointment is the culmination of two decades of service to the New Jersey-based organization.

“It is an incredible honor to be named president and CEO of an organization that has shaped both my professional journey and my heart,” Montague said. “I am excited to lead MSAA into its next chapter of growth, collaboration, and meaningful change.”

Under Montague’s leadership, the MSAA plans to double down on its strategic priorities of growth and impact, ensuring that care and treatment protocols continue to improve for the 140,000 people the organization reaches annually.
