Michelin-recognized ramen icon MENSHO to make East Coast debut at Journal Square’s 505 Summit

Panepinto Properties on Monday announced a major culinary coup for Hudson County: internationally acclaimed ramen brand MENSHO will make its highly anticipated East Coast debut at 505 Summit, a newly completed 54-story luxury rental tower in Jersey City’s bustling Journal Square neighborhood.

Recognized by the Michelin Guide for nearly a decade, MENSHO is scheduled to open its doors to the public in the fall of 2026.

Founded in Tokyo in 2005 by visionary chef Tomoharu Shono, MENSHO has achieved global cult status by elevating traditional Japanese comfort food through innovative techniques, house-made noodles, and carefully developed broths. Operating under a strict “Farm to Bowl” philosophy, the brand focuses on sourcing high-quality, sustainable local ingredients while customizing its concept to mirror the surrounding community.

While the brand has already established successful footholds in food capitals like San Francisco, Hawaii, Singapore, Melbourne, and Bangkok, the Journal Square outpost marks its first-ever location on the Eastern Seaboard.

The restaurant will anchor a portion of the luxury skyscraper’s 3,200 square feet of ground-floor retail space, fronting a brand-new public plaza designed to serve both tower residents and the broader neighborhood.

“Opening in New Jersey as our first East Coast location is a meaningful step for us,” Tomoharu Shono, CEO of MENSHO Inc., said. “We felt we could really grow here—not just bring MENSHO as it exists today but evolve it with the community. Through each bowl, our goal is simple: to create something that feels honest, welcoming, and connected to the people who experience it.”

The addition of an internationally renowned dining anchor aligns perfectly with Panepinto Properties’ goal of integrating the massive architectural development with Journal Square’s established, diverse local identity.

“At 505 Summit, our goal was to create a building that feels connected to Journal Square, not just physically but as part of what’s happening in the neighborhood day to day,” said Joseph A. Panepinto Sr., President & CEO of Panepinto Properties. “MENSHO brings something truly distinctive to the retail space, and it’s the kind of operator that serves as an extended amenity for our residents and the wider community.”

The commercial lease comes amid a highly successful residential rollout for 505 Summit, which sits directly adjacent to the Journal Square PATH station. Designed by HLW International, the tower features 605 studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom luxury residences, with rents starting from the $3,100s.

Residents have already begun moving into the tower, which offers sweeping panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline and the Statue of Liberty. The high-end units feature nine-foot ceilings, quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances, and in-unit washers and dryers.

The Marketing Directors is serving as the exclusive leasing agent, currently offering grand opening incentives of up to 2.5 months free. Beyond the premium apartment finishes and the ground-floor MENSHO restaurant, residents have access to an extensive lifestyle amenity package, including:

  • Rooftop Oasis: An outdoor pool, sundeck, barbecue dining areas, and a dedicated dog run.
  • Wellness & Fitness: A state-of-the-art fitness center outfitted by Techno Gym, complete with a yoga studio.
  • Entertainment Hubs: A resident lounge, multi-sport simulator, game room, and a private karaoke lounge.
  • Convenience Services: A 24-hour concierge, co-working spaces, a pet spa, valet parking, and integrated EV charging stations.
